August 12, 2009 | 2009 Illinois Talent winner on his way to Stardom!
Since competing in the first ever "Illinois Got talent competition" Kole would like to share some exciting news!
Part of his prize package was to be a guest performer at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen program in Orlando, FL on the first evening of competition. On Tuesday evening following his performance, the Executive Producer called & asked him to remain for the week to perform on the final night. He has also been asked to meet with the TLC representatives!!
Kole attended the Dolphin Entertainment LA Experience, where he spent the week in acting classes, singing and sightseeing in Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Venice Beach! By the end of the week, Dolphin Entertainment extended an invitation to sign a contract with them!
Upon finishing college next summer, Kole will be moving to Los Angeles!
Congratulations Kole! We are so proud of you!

August 8, 2009 | Sunday Morning, Erin O'Conner (Miss Illinois) will be rehearsing for the show Monday in the Quad Cities for the Illinois National Guard's Wounded Warrior Project. Erin will be singing at this event with Joe Cantafio and the 101st ROCK DIVISION.
We are very excited to be with these Brave Warriors on Monday evening. The Illinois Scholarship Association presented a donation to USA Forgotten Heroes last night at Veteran's Night in Des Plaines, IL that was collected by the 2009 Miss IL Contestants!!
August 7th, 2009 St Zachary's Augustfest 2009. One of Chicago-land's premier summer festivals. Veterans Night
Erin will sing the National Anthem at the opening Ceremony at 6:15. Lake County Marine Corps League will provided color guard.
Joe Cantafio & the 101st Rock Division will go on stage at 6:30. Erin will present a check for $500.00; payable to "Forgotten Heroes" - (a 501c3 organization - www.USAForgottenHeroes.com IRS letter and Letter of Good Standing are available at this website) for all the work Joe Cantafio and Bob Kolling do for wounded Veterans in VA hospitals across American.
Monday - Aug 10, Erin and Joe head to the Steeplegate Hotel in Davenport, Iowa to perform at 6:30 for the "Wounded Warriors Project" for the Illinois National Guard. Erin will speak and sing a few numbers with Joe during the show. Show ends at 8:30 PM ... they will be on the road at 9:00 PM - heading back to Chicago.

On Saturday, December 6, Miss Illinois Katie Lorenz will be a Celebrity Judge for the audition finals of the Adrenaline Rush dancers at the House of Blues Music Hall, 329 N. Dearborn in Chicago. The annual event will determine the 20 women who will represent the Chicago Rush during the 2009 Arena Football season. Admission is free and doors open at 11am. Other Celebrity Judges will include: Elliott Harris, Chicago Sun-Times sports columnist; Katie Lorenz, Miss Illinois 2008; cast member from the Chicago Company of JERSEY BOYS; radio personality Erica Cobb; Rush QB Russ Michna; and Rush radio announcer Tom Dore. On Saturday, November 22nd, Miss Illinois 2008 Katie Lorenz will be appearing at the Operation Send Support Funding Drive held in conjunction with USO of Illinois for troops and their families. The event takes place from 10am-5pm at the McCormick Freedom Museum, 445 N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. In addition to meeting and greeting military personnel and their families to thank them for their service, Katie will be signing autographs and posing for photos with guests. Other attractions include a performance by the USO Carolers and the opportunity for kids to write messages to troops overseas on specially designed "Message From Home" postcards. All proceeds raised at the event go to support funding for USO Care Packages.

Another reminder that the "ILLINOIS SAVE YOUR CHANGE CHALLENGE" is on! This year, we are asking everyone involved with the organization (contestants, local directors, volunteers...everyone) to gather up their loose change and keep it in a gallon milk jug that each individual will also decorate. Then in 2009 at Spring Forum, everyone will turn in their change. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Children's Miracle Network - the official charity of the Miss America Organization. We will also award prizes for the most creatively decorated milk jugs.

The Miss Illinois Scholarship Association is proud to announce the newest addition to its pageant roster, The Miss Illinois Outstanding Pre-Teen Program, which will be contested on May 23-24, 2009 at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield.
The Miss Illinois Outstanding Pre-Teen Pageant is open to young ladies ages 10-12. Contestants will be judged on the following criteria (percentages of total scores indicated in parenthesis and are subject to change): Private Interview (20%), Community Service (10%), Academic Achievement (10%), Talent (30%), Formal Wear (15%), Lifestyle and Fitness Wear (10%) and On-Stage Question (5%).
